Minty Responses!

Good morning Mintdom!

This morning is the first morning that my knee is not crunching, and my back is better too. Yeah!  I will get back to my morning walks on Wednesday (tomorrow never comes ha, ha) I have actually missed them.  There is something about a morning walk, especially outside, that clears my head. I think it has to do with being out in nature.  Now, those of you who know me well are probably shaking your head and laughing, since I am not an outdoorsy kind of person.  Well, I am still a careful walker after the rain so I do not step on any worms.  That can actually be tricky when there are a lot of them. Anyway, I am anxious to get my steps back up although; it sure is nice to get up at 6:00 in the morning rather then 5 or 5:30.  It just does not seem civilized to get up before 6:00.

“Between whatever happens to me and my response to it is a space.  In that, space is my freedom and power to choose my response.  And in my response lies my growth and happiness.” –Stephen Covey

So it has been about a week since I did any intentional walking, and although I am anxious to get back to it, I really was ok with sitting out a week in order to let things heal. When I read this quote, I got a clear picture in my mind why that was.  I love it when I get a picture like that!  The knee problem is minor and it was not difficult to respond as I did; however, there are times when something happens that REALLY throws me for a loop, a clear picture gives me the freedom AND the power to choose how I am going to deal with it.  No matter what comes across my path – I can visualize that space, and decide my response.  I might be in a situation that I cannot control, but I DO have the power to control my response.  That is a HUGE freedom!

Today, notice those ‘spaces’.  Think about how you choose to respond.  Does noticing the ‘space’ change how you deal with situations?  I would love to hear your success stories!  Please feel free to share here

Make it a GREAT day, IF you choose to

  1. Debbie,
You are so strong and determined and inspiring… Today I went to a funeral of a wonderful, loving man.It was a privledge to be a part of it. He had a great life. He was 91. Then I went to visit his wife ,who is now in hospice care. It was a beautiful place with great staff. The view reminded me of the view out of the window in the house they used to have on the lake. I talked to her about the service and her church, that she loved, and her wonderful family. I held her hand. Death is like birth, a transition, but we don’t look hold with the same value in our society. Then I went to a board meeting. We did the business and then we hung around and talked. I chatted with a few other attendees who seemed to want to talk about personal issues. That seemed more productive than the board meeting. I don’t know if I get that quote, but to me it means * be in the moment*. This was a day I did that. Other people, and those were just a few examples needed ,me to be present. I went with it and it seemed to give me energy, happiness, to listen, share , or help. Thanks for starting me on that path today!

I have a suggestion of a book for you to read. It might help your knee, weight, but it ain’t easy. It is called PH Miracle by Robert and Shelly Young.

    1. Thank you for sharing that beautiful message. Not surprising coming from the beautiful person that you are… inside and out! Thanks too for the book recommendation – I will look for it!

I think you got the quote right! Hugs and kisses to your family!
