Learning Keeps You Young + Trivia

07/26/10 – 5,114 Steps
1 hours of exercise (water aerobics)

Good morning Mintdom,

My steps were low yesterday, although I made up for it with the water aerobics.  I actually do not mind exercising in the water – especially with a group.  It is fun!

I believe that part of leading a healthy balanced life is to feed your body, mind and spirit in healthy ways. I love to read and I often come across some interesting facts.  I thought I would share something that I learned the other day in the form of a couple of trivia questions.  I think you will find it interesting.
How many calories does a single gram of alcohol contain?
___1 ___ 3 ___ 4 ___7 ___9 ___ 0
Answer: One gram of fat contains 9 calories, but alcohol is not a nutrient because it cannot be used in the body to promote growth, maintenance, or repair. It is a toxin that is broken down as an energy (calorie) source and can be converted to fat.
How many teaspoons of sugar does a 12-oz can of soda contain?
___4 ___6 ___ 8 ___10 ___12
Answer: Four grams of sugar equals one teaspoon. A 12-oz can of pop contains 40 grams of sugar, which is equal to 10 teaspoons of sugar and 160 empty calories

How did you do?  Did you get the answers correct?  Were you surprised at the answers?  I got them both wrong and I was surprised by one of the answers.

AffirMINTion: Learning improves my life

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.” –Henry Ford

My mom and I love to learn – that is why we will always stay young, and I like it!

Life is Minty Fresh!

Let’s see, which book will keep me younger
