Good morning!

Yesterday, I told you about our family friend, Katie who actually got on Wheel of Fortune. This was a feat in itself as Katie is an introvert and she didn’t even own a TV until she decided to try out for the show. What a wonderful gift she gave to my Auntie Marion, who is a Wheel of Fortune super fan! Her goal was to have fun and to win at least $1,000.  Katie taped the show last November and could not tell anyone the outcome until after the show aired. Katie DID make both her goals and if you would like to know exactly how she did, click on this picture from their party (btw there were about 50 people in attendance

Win or lose, our family is so grateful to Katie for huge act of kindness. I think Auntie Marion is still riding high.  I too, experienced an awesome act of kindness last week with the gift of a FitBit and I am also still riding high!

Good morning,

Lots going on this past week w/projects at work and some fun things going on in my family and personally.

First we have a close family friend who went on Wheel of Fortune as a gift to my 94 year old Aunt and Super Wheel of Fortune fan! Here is the story

Katie (the neighbor) is a VERY introverted person, and it was ONLY as a gift for my Auntie Marion that she went on the show. Not only that, Katie didn’t even own a TV before she entered to be on the show! Stay tuned for my next blog to see how it all turned out!

My question is: How often do you step out of YOUR comfort zone? I personally find it difficult to stay out of mine, and honestly, every time I write this blog is stepping out of mine!

It is difficult to be transparent; however, the results are worth it. This week, I came into work and sitting on my desk was a little gift with this little star

I was and am still blown away by the generosity of my friends in the office. I could not even read the card without crying and it chokes me up now while I am writing about it. I still do not know all that were involved so I am thanking you ALL this wonderful gift and for your support on this journey.

Now; however, I am REALLY going to have to step up my game and continue to move out of my comfort zone!

01/19/11 – 10 Minutes of Exercise Strength Training (10-10-10) – H2O – 8 Glasses – Steps – 4,300 +

Good morning Mintdom,

I feel good about getting my steps up there, and I actually did better then what you see above, but somehow I have misplaced my pedoMINTer or it fell off and that was about what it said when I last looked!  I hope that it is at the office or in my car.  If not, I am off to buy yet another one!  LOL!  It really helps me to wear a pedometer, as I am much more aware of moving during the day.

I have to be extra good with food and water today as tonight is our office’s happy hour.  By good, I mean I am going to eat correctly, with protein, fiber and a lot of water.  I do not want to be hungry or thirsty when I go, which will help me not over, indulge!  I am looking forward to it though.  Our happy hours are fun because the people are so awesome! I think it is always good to take time out to play, although some in my family might think I like fun a little too much!

Good morning Mintdom,

I FINALLY found my pedometer – yikes! I do not like going without it; it is as if every step is wasted!  Lo Anyway, I have it back and I really NEED to get up to Weight Watchers and get a spare. 

Many of you have heard that I am a member of Spark People.  It is a GREAT site for learning how to live a healthy balanced life.  Yesterday, I signed up for a summer camp in one of my groups.  I think it is going to be similar to the TV show ‘The Amazing Race’.  There are challenges every day.  One of the challenges I accepted is to be out of bed BEFORE 6:00 am during the week.  I used to do that every day, but lately, I have slacked off.  I am trying to go for the longest streak of doing that, that I can. I will be putting this up every day.  I also need to track a nutrient each day, but I have not decided what I want to track yet.  I will let you know.  That did not sound too difficult for me. Well the kicker is, I members are given a partner to compete with other teams – Yikes!  I needed something new and here it is; it is a little scary, but I am up for the challenge.  If you are interested in getting involved visit www.SparkPeople.com and you can enter your OWN Amazing Race!

I’m A Hottie Now!

Good morning Mintdom

I am still trying to get on schedule with the puppy so please bear with me.  I know my step count is low, but this morning it is already up to 3,454 steps – thanks to my sister Becky who asked that I walk with her two or three times a week at 6:15 in the morning!  I do not know if I should kiss her or curse her!  LOL I am kidding because anyone or anything that gets me out early in the morning is a great thing.  I do not know if you people that are in my area have been outside, but it was such a pleasant surprise; it is a gorgeous morning!

Thank you, Becky for asking me to walk with you; it not only gave me the opportunity to help you, but I receiving the benefits of being helpful, exercise, and the pleasure of your company.

There is nothing like having a good support system that helps encourage, nudge and even push you through to your goals.  My goal now is to get back to getting up by 5:00 am in order to do my writing BEFORE she comes at 6:15.  Anyone have a good trick to getting up extra early – especially when there is a cute little snuggler in the bed with me?  LOL

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Good morning Mintdom,

 Tuesday was a GREAT day for exercise – lots of steps PLUS an hour of good exercise. Today will be good also as I have training and a community event. Yesterday, I stayed at my desk most of the day, but still managed to get in almost 5,000. I have increased my steps a lot in a year. I am still short the 10,000; however, I started at around 2,000 steps a day. Remember the tortoise won the race.
