75 minutes of shoveling snow

Food Journal – No

Good morning Mintdom,

I woke up sick this morning – ug.  It is just a cold but I am happy that I have a snow day from work.  I did; however, make my bed, got dressed (Friday casual), and because of our technology will be able to work from home today.

I will tell you that shoveling snow is GREAT exercise.  I not only got in a bunch of cardio, I also got in some good strength training – at least my arms, legs, back and waist are very sore this morning.  In fact, I really needed to stretch my hands this morning, because they were stiff!

Last Friday, I received a present in my mailbox.  The gift had a note attached thanking me for my blogs, that they were inspirational, and they especially liked the positive attitude blog on the 16th. They went on to say that they found this in the store, loved the name, please enjoy it, and Merry Christmas, but they did not sign the card.  Now those that know me well know that I LOVE presents, but the BEST part of this gift was not the lotion called Optimism, it was that someone that reads my blog is inspired and that perhaps I am making a difference in someone’s life.  ::::: tearing up:::::   That is more then I could hope.

Thank you for my secret Santa’s gift; it means more to me then words can express and for giving love to me in a very special way. If the spark grows dim to write this blog, I just need to remember receiving this gift!

AffirMINTion:  I am grateful for ALL the gifts in my life, especially the gift of friendship!

Make it a GREAT day, IF you choose to.

SMART Mint!

08/26/09 – 6,019

Good morning Mintdom!

I made my comMINTment yesterday by the 19 steps – phew!  It DOES go to show me that when I make a comMINTment, write it down, and then share it with others, I keep it.  It really CAN work for you too.  Now, you do not have to share it with the world as I do, but my best advice is to find a person that will hold you accountable to your goals.  Be careful though, because you want to make sure they are YOUR goals and not their goals for you. You know *I* can come up with many things that *I* think that YOU need to do!  LOL!  Those who know me well have seen that!  My sister Nancy occasionally gives unsolicited advice, but she is gentle with it and usually asks permission to give it.  On the other hand, I often just blurt it out!  LOL!  The good news is that once I tell you what I think, I usually let it go.  My point is to make sure that the goals you set are YOUR goals or you and your accountability partner will end up frustrated at the very least!

Speaking of goal setting, I saw a presentation yesterday that reminded me of S.M.A.R.T goal setting.  You can find the details by visiting http://www.topachievement.com/smart.html.

Specific
Measurable

Attainable
Realistic

Timely

If you follow these directions, and have someone help hold you accountable, you will achieve your goals. Oh, and by the way, I do not think that your accountability partner has to be in person, although that is the best-case scenario; you can also have sessions over the phone.  Other then sending your goals or a report via e-mail, STAY AWAY FROM E-MAIL CONVERSATIONS but that is another topic all together!  LOL!

I am so grateful that I have you all to write to in the mornings.  I cannot imagine that I would have continued this journey without you.  Each of you, in your own way, through your notes, phone calls and your occasional in person pokes, rekindles the spark in me.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my Minty heart!
