STOP IT!

01/02/2011 – 10 Minutes of Exercise – Zumba (beginners) 3 Minutes of Core Exercise- Ball – H2O – 4

Good morning, Mintdom!

I had a GREAT day yesterday.  I cooked, cleaned and did laundry, which always makes me, feel good. In addition, I had some nice quiet time and did some organizing.  I even got on the floor like a kid and played with Minty – I think we wore each other out, and if you know Minty, that is quite a task!

During my quiet time I remembered seeing this video.  It is the perfect video for stopping or starting a habit.  They are both from the same skit but one is quite a bit longer. I have watched the long version a couple of times, and now I plan to watch the short version regularly as a reminder to stay on track.  It is a very simple message.  If I am overeating or not eating the correct things I will just Stop It!  It takes away all my excuses and justifications. I highly recommend this!

We Attract Who We Are

06/30/10 – 7,257 Steps
8 glass of water

Good morning Mintdom!

I had a successful day yesterday!  This morning I got up at 6:30 (an hour late), walked, and played with the puppy.  I am heading in the right direction, and I am fortunate that I have such a good support system through my family, friends and co-workers.

I am getting ready to take this 4-month weekly class on customer service.  My pre homework asked me to describe the type of people that I enjoy being with the most.  That was an easy question for me.  Here are some (I have not completed the assignment yet) of the qualities that I wrote:

I enjoy outgoing people that can carry on meaningful conversations.  I enjoy people who are respectful, have a high sense of integrity, thoughtful, interested in others and the world, and of course FUN!  When I look at those that I choose to spend time with, they are all of that and more!

The next question asked me to write words that best described my personality.  Here are some of the words: energetic, happy, interested, fun, student, professional, predictable, smart, empathetic, direct and of course FUN.

I found it interesting that I think of myself as having many qualities that are in the people I enjoy being around – I guess we attract who we are.

Think about doing this little exercise and see if it reveals anything to you.  I would love to hear your thoughts here

AffirMINTion: I attract people like me and I like who I am!

If You See Success – It Will Happen!

06/14/10 – 5,265 Steps
1 hour of exercise
6 glasses of water

Good morning Mintdom!

I feel like I had a very successful day yesterday.  I got a lot done at work, I ate for my health, I drank almost all my water and I got in an hour of exercise at the pool last night.  I actually burned 453 calories, and I am even sore this morning from the workout.  The best part my exercise was that it was a lot of fun.  I love the women in my class, AND one of the women told me that something was ‘before my time’.  I have not had that told to me in ages! I enjoyed the class, the exercise and the fact that I burned 453 calories!

Today, I see myself with a 7,000 step-count, 8 glasses of water, a healthy diet, and a GREAT planning session for an event in October.  What is your vision for YOUR day?

AffirMINTion: I have a vision for my success.

I Am an Overnight Success!

11/23/09 – 7,627 Steps

Food Journal – Yes

Good morning Mintdom,

I have had some technical difficulties this morning with my computer so this is going out a little late.  I hope that you all slept well last night and woke up (or will wake up in some cases) refreshed and ready to tackle the day! Some of you are telling me that you think I am too hard on myself.  That may be true, and if it is, it is because I love myself.  Yes, I love myself and maybe there are times when I need to give myself a little tough love! LOL!  Seriously, I REALLY want to become a healthy person, and although my general health is good, I am not where *I* want to be; therefore, I push myself.

Food Journal – No

Good morning Mintdom,

Yesterday, my computer would not cooperate and I did not get to finish; I am back today though – phew!  Therefore, as I was saying, I do push myself at times, and that is a good thing.  When I started reporting my steps back in July, I was doing 2,000 steps a day.  I was happy when I made it to 4,000!  Today, I am disappointed over 5,000 and I am beginning to be consistent with 7,000.  I can see that my lifestyle is changing. I am beginning to develop a healthy lifestyle. By George, I think it is going to stick!  Woo hoo!

This is a GREAT revelation to me! I CAN do it.  I AM doing it! I just thought about this – I am an overnight success!  I can see that there are certain things that really help me:

  • Tracking, Tracking, Tracking
  • Journaling
  • Putting one foot in front of the other every day
  • Accountability

Big thanks to each of you for holding me accountable by your acknowledgements and your encouragements.  I love you all!

Minty Beliefs!

10/08/09 – 4,529

Food Journal – Yes

Good Friday Morning, Mintdom!

This morning during my quiet time, thoughts started creeping into mind:

You did ONLY 4,529 steps yesterday.

You had another low-step day.

Are you EVER going to get back to intentional exercise?

What is wrong with you?

You NEED to get back on the stick.

All I could see this morning was what I was not doing.  That ugly little voice in the back of my mind kept pointing out my failure.  Arrrggggggg!!!  I think it lasted for maybe a minute (a lot of damage can be done in a minute).  Thank God, I surround myself with good reading material. I picked up a couple of my books and came upon the following quote:

“You weren’t an accident.  You weren’t mass-produced.  You aren’t an assembly-line product.  You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on the Earth by the Master Craftsman.” –Max Lucado (Best-selling author)

Now I am a Christian, and I believe that I God designed me, but you do not have to be a Christian to believe that you are a one-of-a-kind, wonderfully made person with specific talents and gifts. If I am going to succeed in this world, I need to believe that I can, and that is a choice.  I choose to believe that I can do this.  I choose to focus on my accomplishMINTs.  I choose to focus on the talents that I DO have.

I just tracked my steps every day for the past 101 days!

I walked OVER two miles yesterday!

I started a food journal!

I write a blog almost every day!

I swam one day this week!

I showed up for life this week!

I did have a slight lapse this morning.  The good news is that it did not last long. Phew! Just so, you know, this thought process did not happen by accident.  In the past 5 years, I surrounded myself with positive people, positive books, and even positive music.  It is like intentional exercise for my mind and soul.  Do you practice intentional exercise for your mind and soul (spirit)?  It is a choice.

AffirMINTion:  I am a one-of-a-kind person with my own talents and gifts!

Make it a GREAT day, IF you choose to

Mint Principle: NO EXCUSES

09/23/09 – 3,488

Food Journal – Yes

Good morning Mintdom!

Low step count yesterday because I did not walk in the morning.  Today is another story though.  If I have not said it before, I will say it now:  There are many benefits for writing a blog, and one of the most important comes from feedback.  Yesterday, I said that I would try to get my exercise / steps in after work.  Obviously that did not happen.  What DID happen however is this little note; it helped me get out of bed this morning!  I am SO writing this quote down on a 3×5 card!

May these words from my 11 year old daughter be of encouragement … (as I wake her up for an EARLY swim practice…3:45am..)

“My mind says ‘yes’ and my body says ‘no’ …I feel so much better when I listen to my mind…!!!!”

~ Katelyn ~ (11 years old)

This morning, Katelyn’s quote rang in my mind, and I got right out of bed!  Katelyn is right, I feel SO much better this morning.  This also points out the need for all of us to take charge of ourselves.  There is only one person that is responsible for the quality of our lives – that person is you (me).  If I want to be successful in anything that I choose to do, I need to take full responsibility for my life – NO EXCUSES!  This was a difficult concept for me to grasp when I first heard it, but I have learned over the years that it is the truth.  I can give you countless of success stories of people that you would think had hopeless situations. A story of a young girl that went from homeless to Harvard, or a homeless man that slept in a public bathroom with his young son that became a Wall Street Tycoon, or a young man who owns several companies, travels and speaks all over the world, who was born with no arms and no legs.  We cannot change our circumstances.  We CAN change our minds and our choices.

“You must take personal responsibility.  You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself.”

~Jim Rohn ~ American’s foremost busienss philosopher

Out of The Mint Zone

09/15/09 – 4,223

Food Journal – Yes

Good morning Mintdom!

I feel much better this morning and this will be the last day of no intentional walking / exercise in the morning. Today, I am committing to at least 5,000 steps.  I know that I can do it if I focus.  I need to focus on my health and my business today.  I mentioned this before but I write down four things that are vital for me to do each day (most days).  It is a good way to stay focused, and gives me four things to put over on my 10 accomplishMINTs page! I know, I know another journal LOL but trust me it works.  Have you tried it yet?  I thought I would share mine with you today; here are my four vitals for today.

1.  Coffee with two business owners who are dear friends

2.  Complete brochure and power site for client

3.  Food Journal

4.  Planning committee meeting/dinner for KW retreat

“Do a little more each day than you think you possible can.” –Lowell Thomas

“It’s never crowded along the extra mile.” –Wayne Dyer

Jeepers – sometimes I think I read too much!  I came across these two quotes this morning, and I realize that I have one more thing that I need to do before I go to bed tonight.

5.  Write the agenda for Communications Committee for meeting on Thursday.

I know that if I want to be successful in any area, I need to keep my goals in front of me, I need to push myself, I need to remain focused, and go that extra mile.  I think that means I am probably going to be out of my Mint (comfort) zone a lot.  One last thing that I learned along this journey is that success comes with sacrifice, and that is why “it’s never crowded along the extra mile.”  I am willing to “do a little more each day…” are you?  Share your thoughts by visiting www.Mintdom.com, and do not forget to take the poll while you are there.

Thanks for your patience these couple of weeks, and for the nice notes and calls.  You all are the BEST!

AffirMINTion:  I am willing to pay the price for my success.

Make it a GREAT day, IF you choose to.

Life is good!

Sharing Mintdom

08/19/09 – 2,685

Good morning Mintdom!

Yesterday, I got a new pedoMINTer. Yikes!  I think that number is the kind of number that I started with on GretaWire.com.  It only takes a minute to lose momentum.  Never fear though – I was back at the gym a little bit after 5:00 this morning!  I have almost doubled that number today already.  I could have stayed a lot longer, but the coffee and Mintdom was calling me!  I can already feel the difference in my mind and my spirit.  So… now, I am back!  Did you all miss me?

I have to tell you that writing this blog every day is an amazing experience for me.  I KNOW without a doubt, that sharing my challenges and successes with you holds me accountable. Without you I, double I would have been at the gym this morning; it was dark and very hot. I really would have preferred to stay in my bed, and my air-conditioned home. You are one of the big reasons that I stay on track, even though I do not see any changes in the way I look.

Another thing that helps me stay on track is something Nancy said to me when I first began working with her.  She said, “I am responsible for everything in our lives.”  It came from the book, “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. I argued with her about it.  How can that be?  What about when a sudden illness, death, or an act of God happens?  I just could not get my arms around it.  That was over 4 years ago and I understand it now.  For the past couple of days, that statement keeps rolling around in my head. I now believe it also, and believing it, this principle is freeing because I know no matter what happens in my life, how I deal with it that makes a difference. I see it in big events like how my daughter and her husband are dealing with the sudden death of his son’s mother.  I see it in small events like the loss of a pedoMINTer and in all events and situations in between.  I might not be responsible for a tornado hitting my home; however, I AM responsible for how I deal with it.  Knowing that I am responsible moves me into action. Go to http://www.thesuccessprinciples.com/ to sign up for Jack Canfield’s FREE 21-day online mentorship course.

Are there things that you do in your life that help you stay motivated?  Do you agree with the statement, “I am responsible for everything in my life”?  Please share your thoughts here on www.Mintdom.com.  I think that the quote for today carries this theme even farther.  What do you think?

“If you haven’t the strength to impose your own terms upon life, you must accept the terms it offers you.” –T.S. Eliot

AffirMINTion:  I am responsible for my life.  I seize the day and all that it offers!

Make it a GREAT day, IF you choose to.
